Travel Review – JW Marriott Ihilani Ko Olina Resort & Spa

JW Marriott Sunset 2When traveling to Hawaii the choices in hotel seems overwhelming and each distinct area on the island has its own benefits.  With my focus when planning my vacation on enjoying the beautiful scenery and peaceful nature of the island I decided to steer clear of the hustle and bustle of Honololu and instead opted for the more serene Oahu as my vacation destination on my first trip to Hawaii.  The JW Marriott San Antonio has long been one of my favorite weekend getaway locations and I was hopeful the luxurious amenities I had become used to would stay true at the JW Marriott in Oahu. JW Marriott beach view Aeriel view of JW Marriott beach JW Marriott balcony view

As I had imagined the JW Marriott Ihilani Ko Olina Resort & Spa provides a breathtaking location off the beaten path.  From the second you walk in the lobby entrance and see the wide open doors accessing the beautiful Hawaiian beach you can feel the wave of calm wash over you.  With my eye on the prize I immediately headed to the beach upon checking in with a quick stop at the pool bar to kick off my vacay relax with a pina coloda.  JW Marriott tree climbingNot only is the access to the beach phenomenal, the sunset views from the hotel are surreal.  You have great access to enjoy the sundown from the beach, in the green grass surrounding the property and, for the more adventurous, by venturing out to the rocks next to the beach for an undisturbed appreciation of nature’s beauty. JW Marriott rocks and water 2

As the hotel is a little more secluded in location the hotel offers a lot of great amenities right there on site so you don’t have to look far in enjoying yourself.  Every meal we enjoyed on site at the hotel offered some great options.  The brunch offering at Naupaka Terrace did stand out with made to order omelets and a juicing station it offered a great way to start off the morning and be ready for the fun activities found at the hotel.  The offerings by the beach are awesome as paddleboards and canoes can be rented for guest’s convenience and is often included in their resort fee.  With easy access to golfing and the spa there is something for everyone in the family to love.  JW Marriott breakfast buffet JW Marriott pina coladaOnce you start itching to venture out of the beach views and explore the island you are within a short 7 minute walk to a neighborhood shopping plaza with shops and restaurants as well as the Paradise Cove Luau.  If your want to explore the more party and populous areas of Hawaii then this hotel may not be the best fit, but if you want a beach focused vacation in Hawaii the  JW Marriott Ihilani Ko Olina Resort & Spa is a great place to slip away to.  With the hotel set to be sold in 2015 there is no time like the present to check out the fabulous find in Oahu. JW Marriott poolside view Monkeypod Kitchen Mai TaiJW Marriott paddleboarding
