Texas Tequila and Margarita Festival Recap

IMG_6215Maybe it’s our strong ties to Mexico and love for all things Mexican or the heat or just the love for doing everything bigger, regardless of the reason, one thing is for sure, Texans love tequila.  This weekend at the Texas Tequila and Margarita Festival attendees took their love for the spirit out to Moody Gardens to grab some fun in the sun with tequila.

In the spotlight on Saturday was both the tequila and its classic pairing partner, the margarita.  IMG_6147 IMG_6145 IMG_6151The great thing about any festival like this is you have an opportunity to reconnect with some of your favorites and step out to try out some potential contenders for new favorites.  The margarita festival stepped up to answer the age old question of who has the best margaritas as the Moody Garden Convention center became a haven for margaritas.  Candidates from weak to strong, sweet to sour showed up to prove they were true contenders for the best margarita.  IMG_6148Each booth offer a quick sip that allowed you to not only be introduced to new recipes for a classic drink but also to the bars and restaurants that each added their own unique spin.  Scatter within this assortment of margarita stations were some local favorites for Mexican food ensuring you stayed fueled up and ready to go.  At the end of the long process of discovery you find the best is hard to find but there are definitely some drinks that are a perfect fit to your tastes and preferences.  IMG_6147Exploration, however, is still half the fun on the road to margarita perfection.

Tequila has a way of bringing people closer together, strangers become old friends after a couple of tastings.  This environment only enhanced the mood at the Sauza Outdoor Margarita festival.  IMG_6143 IMG_6139 IMG_6140Cool concoctions and delicious treats meet up with an awesome band line up to give some serious family fun.  Between some great zydeco music with Step Rideau & the Zydeco Outlaws and some salsa to get you moving on your feet by Mango Punch a great time was had by all at this weekend’s festivities.
