Backless, and cutouts and shorts…Oh MY!

Party StylesLast weekend as I headed to NOLA excited about catching my favorite performer, Prince!  From the onset I knew I was ready for a weekend of rock and roll.  With it beginning with Prince, is there a better way to enjoy such a great performer than by taking up the challenge of moving a little closer to the funky side?  The first step for me was to step out a bit on my apparel and add some spice with fun details and sassy options in my apparel.

Backless shirt and shorts for concertPrince concert: For a concert for a performer I love there are few things that rank higher on my list than being comfortable.   I wanted to be ready to dance and sing the night away and feel confident I will be up for the challenge of walking and standing for long periods of time.  To stay comfortable I choose to wear a tee, shorts and sandals.  I added the dash of funky in the fun details in the back of the top with beaded drop highlighting the backless shirt.  The shorts I kept simple with some drawstring black shorts from Robert Rodriquez made in a silk for a very breathable wear, plus high on comfort and versatility.

Colorful Cavalli dressAll White Party: I am not that great at following style rules and a party where everyone is encourage to wear the same color is usually not my style.  In this case I took a spin on the usual white dress by choosing a Roberto Cavalli dress that has a white base but is covered in colorful patterns and shapes to give a new spin on white.  The cut on the dress also adds some serious pop with the dropped backless addition to the dress.  With the wild colors and cut outs I like they added a little length to the dress to give it a little more balance and make for a nice surprise when you walk away.

Flower dress with leather and cutoutsParty hopping: Some nights you start off knowing just one won’t do.  On my last night out I planned to pop through a couple of parties so I wanted to start off with something I knew could fit several different scenes and make a statement at all of them.  I went for a grey printed dress with fun cut outs and leather details to add some structure as well as sass.   The peekaboo cutouts definitely are more on the va va voom side and the leather inserts and flower pattern are a great nod to the balance of hard and soft.  Late night hopping funWith some of my favorite fun platform sandals to take me through a night of hopping around I was ready for the 7:30 am return home after a night full of laughter and fun.

What’s your style when you are preparing for a weekend of unknown adventures?
