Weekend Getaway – Vegas Style

Encore Beach Club

A couple of weeks ago I shared my plan for how to make the most of a weekend getaway.  I definitely made the best of my weekend and got to see my favorite performer, Prince!  This time I made up my mind to mix up my usual suspects and try some new attractions on the strip.  Mixing things up is a great way to add new favorites to your list and make sure that even when you are visiting a city you have been before you are still getting a fresh experience and a broader scope to your knowledge of the city.  Here are so new favorites of mine that you should be sure to check out next time you hit up Vegas:

  • Sushi Samba: I love sushi, but to be honest a dinner of sushi before a big night of drinking is not a great game plan for me.

The greatthing about Sushi Samba is the great blend of cultures and the foods that represent those countries.  Between Brazil and Japan you can definitely find some bites that lay down a good base in preparation for a night of partying.  The vibe is cool and trendy and when you add the food or drinks…On MY!!!  My table shared a variety of appetizers and all were right on point.  For the main dish, the Classic Caipirinha.  If you have visited Rio it is hard not to walk away with an appreciation of this drink.  Sushi Samba sticks with the traditional version but also offers some different takes on a tried and true favorite.

  • Encore Beach Club: I am a super big fan of day parties and when in Vegas you are sure to find me at one every day of my visit.  Although I love the Marquee at the Cosmopolitan, with the afternoon coming to a close I hopped over to the Encore Beach Club.  As with everything at the Wynn they did it big.  The club is huge to start with, probably the biggest beach club in Vegas.  The layout incorporates a dance floor, several pool areas, cabanas and bars.  To kick off our party we started with a mixed berry mojito.  It’s not on the menu, but check with the bartender about a drink that everyone in your party will like when you are committing to a pitcher.  They will make any menu drink in a pitcher size so you can go crazy.  The party definitely takes it to the next level and with it so goes the prices, be prepared.  Other than that sit back and enjoy, whether you like to dance, gamble or sit back and watch the madness.  It’s the kind of place where you can definitely make a couple of Vegas memories that you will have to leave at the plane.
